In one experiment, students were told that a nuclear reactor produces more waste than another. They were then asked whether it was likely that this reactor was also dangerous, and the majority of students said yes, of course, although the probability is 50%. The students thought that "more waste" a point against the reactor, thus speaks against the general "quality". However, a reactor that produces a lot of waste can be very safe. The two facts "waste production" and "security" are independent.
So we tend to things-such a technology in general positive or negative one. As soon as we hear something negative about a thing, we believe that it still has several negative characteristics, although this of course nominal scale does not have to agree.
