Actually post-Rare Nintendo are great believers in quietly outsourcing things, both to befuddle cons

While many are excited for Killer Instinct , some are disappointed other Rare franchises have gone unused for years. It seems to be intentional as Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer admitted that they only bought Rare to destroy them. In an interview with Phil Spencer on the future of Kinect, the folks at Rare were brought up due to their work on Kinect Sports . Spencer briefly segued into talking about the acquisition of Rare and how it was mostly made to deprive Nintendo of good games.
“The acquisition of Rare was made almost out of spite,” said Spencer, “They had made great games for Nintendo so we figured the best way to stop that would be to buy Rare and then run them into the ground. We definitely had the money for it and thought it would be a great investment. And after the initial acquisition, we wouldn’t have to spend any more money on them since we weren’t going to try to make them into a real Microsoft development team.”
“Conker would have made a great addition to the Xbox lineup due to his appeal towards our general demographic, but we thought it would be better salter scales to destroy any potential he had as a franchise instead by censoring his game and refusing to make a sequel,” explained Spencer, “It showed our fans that we would not stand for anything that appeared to be like Nintendo or child-friendly even though he was a swearing, drinking squirrel. Viva PiƱata was an exception but that franchise is now dead so it doesn’t matter.”
“We’ve made absolutely no effort in trying to support Rare,” continued Spencer, “We didn’t care whenever a Rare veteran left, we didn’t care that none of their IPs were being used, we didn’t care when they were working on absolutely nothing salter scales at all. In fact, the only reason they got put onto Kinect Sports in the first place was because we wanted to make them the laughing stock of the video game world. It worked and now most people forget that they even exist. Sometimes I forget too.”

His sources are right there in the article. I know you’re used to other sites just reporting from someone else’s work, who was reporting from someone else’s work. Here, though, the news is straight from the source.

The only problem salter scales with that is that Rare wouldn’t be able to bring in anything, and any games they made would be seen as garbage because the majority of the Video Game World’s demographics are just buying a game because the cover art has Microsoft or Sony on it, so if they know that Rare fell out of the game, then they won’t even touch a case with the R on it….
Actually post-Rare Nintendo are great believers in quietly outsourcing things, both to befuddle consumers and prevent superstar studios getting sniped by MS. Style Savvy was built by the same studio as Def Jam Fight For NY and the entire Mario & Luigi series was handled by TOSE.
believable troll 5/10
